SAO Approved Food Sanitizer

SAO Approved as Food Sanitizer Confirmed by FDA and Minnesota Department of Health

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have confirmed that Tersano’s Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO) sustainable solution is an approved surface sanitizer for food contact, non-porous surfaces.

This is important news for restaurants, schools, daycares, grocery stores, and others as it clarifies that SAO is a versatile, safe and sustainable cleaner and sanitizer that can be used on food contact surfaces,” said Tom Holm, Founder and CEO of Green Science Solutions. “In the big picture, this is another important step in removing harmful chemicals from our bodies and our environment.

SAO has been tested and certified by several prominent third-party laboratories, and sustainability organizations as a safe and sustainable alternative to traditional chemical cleaners and disinfectants. It has been approved by the FDA as an antimicrobial agent and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for their National Organic Program.

“We congratulate the State of Minnesota and its Department of Health for creating cleaner, safer, healthier places to live, work and play through the approval of Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO) as a sanitizer,” said Steve Hengsperger, President of Tersano, Inc.  “Using sustainable SAO to eliminate germs is one more step in changing the way we clean—for the better.” SAO satisfies the State of Minnesota’s sanitizing requirements for food contact surfaces, when used in accordance with Tersano’s instructions.

Sanitizing Instructions for Food Contact, Non-porous Surfaces

Cleaning and sanitizing with Stabilized Aqueous Ozone is quick and easy. SAO only needs to sit on the surface for 30 seconds before wiping or allowing to air dry before food is in contact with the surface. No rinse is required for sanitizing.
